or Prozac. It's difficult to get, but this one has turned up
in it's place.
His new book on the topic of
depression is another thoughtful,
well-researched down to earth, commonsense approach to what you
can do to recognise and then treat the symptoms of depression.

Although written by a trick
cyclist it's definitely not rocket science.
According to
Servan-Schreiber, exercise, nutrition, the ability to get your
autonomic nervous system ticking over nicely and cognitive
therapy stand head and shoulders over medication up at the
depression front line.
The epidemic of depression will
continue to escalate at the same rate as the epidemic of
dysfunction in all other body systems - unless people start to
keep themselves fit and healthy and do the things that fit and
healthy people do to keep themselves in good shape.
The foundation of a good mental
health strategy is a good health and fitness strategy.

WHAT YOUR DOCTOR DOESN'T
KNOW ABOUT NUTRITIONAL MEDICINE MAY BE KILLING YOU

It's a strange state of affairs, that
after all their training, doctors are unable to diagnose dietary
insufficiency.
Vets are much better at it and their
patients can't even tell them how they feel? Practitioners of natural and
traditional Chinese medicine also have a much better handle on the causes of
many common body system dysfunctions and the relation the dysfunctions
have to either a deficiency or excess of certain nutrients.

Medical practitioner, Ray Strand's wife
was crook with chronic fatigue. He was unable to diagnose the cause of
the problem and the prescriptions he doled out
weren't making her better. (Sound familiar?) She kept
getting worse.
It was a friend of his wife who suggested
a nutritional supplement, and after a short time, health was restored
and the rest, as they say, is history. Friend '1' doctor 'nil'.
Strand put on his
thinking cap and, as a result has produced a book that makes
eminent good sense and spends
his time giving lectures on the vitamins and minerals we need to be

It's his belief that it's oxidative stress

I read elsewhere that a toxic body (from
all the poisons we ingest), a body
that's too acidic, a body harboring all manner of fungi, and a body
that's intolerant of some of the widely available foods is the cause of
all manner of body system dysfunctions. I think
that's probably right too.
This is one of the best books in the last
few years. A lady at a seminar suggested I buy it. I'm glad I did and I
encourage you to rush out and buy it as well.
The dieticians and doctors think this is
all baloney, holding sacred the position that if you eat the perfect
diet you'll get enough vitamins and minerals food to keep you in good
health. Well that's bunkum and you know it's bunkum. I'll prove it
to you.

OVERDOSED
AMERICA
John Abrahamson
If you want to know what swifties
the junk medical and pharmaceutical industries are pulling on
you and your country, you must read this book. John Abrahamson,
a doctor himself, working out of the Harvard-based sheltered workshop for the
academically gifted has written a hard-nosed,
no holds barred, no-punches-pulled, no nonsense look at how pharmaceutical companies have
perverted the course of good health in the last couple
of decades of the 20th century.

Thank God we're now seeing a flood
of books and articles exposing junk medicine for what it is, a
dreadful, costly, iatrogenic fraud. Read this book and then join
the increasing number of people who are choosing to keep
themselves fit and healthy rather than dosing themselves up on
junk pharmaceuticals.

PAIN FREE
Pete Egoscue
This is the best book I've read about the causes and
treatment of musculo-skeletal dysfunction. If you've got a crook back,
stiff neck, 'cold' shoulder, bung hip, gamy leg, dicky knee or RSI, this
book is a must.

I've been to Egoscue's clinic in San Diego as a paying
client and I've been standing on his shoulders ever since. I do his
exercises regularly and in the last year my back has gone from 10/100 to
95/100, (on a scale in which 1 is wretched and 100 is absolutely
fantastic.)
Some of
the opinions I got from the book are:

It's motion starvation that's causing your
dysfunction. |

Don't blame the desk and
chair, it's the inability of weak and tight muscles to keep you
in good postural alignment that's the cause of your dysfunction. |

The cause of the pain is rarely at the site of
the pain. |

Bones do what muscles tell them to do. Restore
muscle function and the bones will come back into alignment. The
pain will go away. |

It's a big ask expecting your body to get better
by having someone do something to it. Sooner or later you have
to do something to yourself - strength, flexibility and postural

has a clear and concise outline of the
exercises you need to do to restore function.
This book will do more for your musculo-skeletal
dysfunction than any X-ray, MRI or Cat scan, any anti-inflammatory or
cortisone injection, any rub down, crunch, hot wheat bag, electric shock
or scalpel. It's a must buy and comes with my highest recommendation.
Regardless of whether you are a member of the pick and
shovel or the sit down profession you need to read and digest what it
says in this book. It will be a revelation.
It fits in well with the natural healing philosophy which
says that you can do things which protect you from musculo-skeletal
dysfunction or which can fix your musculo-skeletal dysfunction without
recourse to therapists, chemists or surgeons.
And regardless of which profession you're in, there's a
good chance that somewhere down the track you'll get a crook back, stiff
neck, frozen shoulder, bung hip, game leg, dicky knee and RSI if you
don't keep your body strong and flexible. Save yourself the bother. Buy
the book. Do the exercises.
If

buy a copy for everyone on your staff.
Make them read it and make them do the exercises. It will save you a
poultice in compo claims and sheet home the blame for any
musculo-skeletal rehab claim (especially for people in the sit down
professions) to where it belongs!
